About Me

Hi, I’m Carolyn Conover, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) originally from the Hudson Valley of New York. I earned my nursing degrees from New York University (BSN) and Pace University (MSN), and my path into psychiatry was shaped by years working in inpatient psychiatry and the emergency department, where I cared for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Those experiences showed me how powerful consistent, compassionate psychiatric care can be - and how often people struggle to access it. I take a warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach to treatment, focusing on anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma-related concerns. I believe mental health care isn’t about fixing who you are, but about helping you feel supported, understood, and confident in your ability to move forward. My goal is to meet you where you are, involve you fully in your care, and work together toward lasting stability and well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Patients often tell me they appreciate how listened to and understood they feel in our sessions. Many mention that they like my calm, approachable style, and that I take the time to explain things clearly and involve them in decisions about their care. They seem to value that I make sessions feel safe, collaborative, and supportive, which helps them feel more confident managing their mental health.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with getting a clear understanding of your history, current concerns, and what you hope to gain from treatment. From there, we collaborate on an individualized plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, and practical coping strategies. I approach prescribing thoughtfully and conservatively, using the lowest effective doses and adjusting gradually as needed. Throughout our work together, I regularly check in and make changes collaboratively, ensuring that each session feels purposeful, supportive, and focused on helping you build long-term stability and confidence.
